Flu Prevention

These procedures below will help you avoid the flu.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick. If you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.

If you are sick stay home from work and school. You will help prevent others from catching your illness. The CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. (Your fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.)

Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

Use good hand hygiene often. Washing your hands properly and frequently will help protect you from germs.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Touching something that is contaminated with germs and touching your eyes, nose, or mouth can spread germs.
